FLOOD ISSUES

Lawrence G. Dunbar, P.E. has over 30 years of professional engineering experience on a wide variety of flood-related issues, for example:

  • was the lead hydrologist for the Corps of Engineers in the development of the various floodplains for FEMA as part of the National Flood Insurance Program in the states of Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana.
  • developed a real-time unsteady-state flood forecasting model of the Illinois River.
  • led the Corps’ hydrologic evaluation of the multi-million dollar deep tunnel flood control project for the City of Chicago.
  • was the lead hydrologist on an international consulting team for the flood control study for the City of Manila in the Philippines.
  • was the lead hydrologist for the hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for the Brazos River floodplain study in Fort Bend County, Texas.
  • assisted in the development of an early flood warning system for various watersheds in and around the City of Austin.
  • oversaw the Dam Safety Program of the Corps in Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana.
  • led the dam inspection program for the State of Indiana.
  • provided consulting services to a variety of clients on various flood-related matters, such as for the Cypress Creek Flood Control Coalition.
